The collaboration between the two groups has given rise to a mixed-type robotic cell, fully operational for a few months now, capable of independently carrying out up to 90% of the moulds production and allows to reduce the time required but, at the same time, to improve production flexibility. A complete technically refined and innovative solution.
The cell includes a 5-axis milling machine, a die-sinking EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), a CMM measuring machine (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and a washing unit. The equipment, automation and management software developed by System 3R, from GF Machining Solutions, transform the cell into a single entity, programmable by a single operator and autonomous without supervision.
The system, which is operational 24/7 in an environment with controlled temperature and humidity, has already been appreciated due to its numerous benefits, thus helping to further increase the company's ability to make moulds for new products. All this thanks to the improvement of internal technical know-how and know-why and the development of skills achieved from the use of technology driven by informatization.
The realisation of the new Automated Moulds Centre required 12 months of work. After the first six months, during which the area intended to contain the mixed-type robotic cell was built and equipped, in the following six months, GF Machining Solutions was able to install and test the entire system.
Over 1,000 hours of training and tests were dedicated to the optimisation and stabilisation of the technical process to ensure the correct functioning of the Automated Moulds Centre which, thanks to the construction quality of the GF Machining Solutions machines and to the autonomy of the cell, is now capable to guarantee machining precision up to 5 microns.
Once again Elesa decides to invest and focus on the future to continue to offer competence, quality, reliability in the shortest possible time and to continue to innovate also in the production of moulds for new products.
